Get help to break free from OCD

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) Therapy for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, delivered to you.

About us

On average there’s an 11 year gap between being diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and getting appropriate help. We want to change that.

In Your Element Psychology provides a specific, evidence-based ‘dose’ of treatment for people living with OCD. By keeping the psychological approach specific to OCD, we hope to keep therapy accessible and timely for those that need it.

In Your Element Psychology aims to link people living with OCD with a Clinical Psychologist who can provide the ‘gold standard’, first-line treatment option for OCD, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) Therapy. ERP is a form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and has received the most evidence to date for the treatment of OCD. ERP might not be the only 'ingredient’ needed in your treatment plan, but this service wants to make sure it’s not overlooked.

In Your Element Psychology hopes to overcome barriers to access by providing evidence-based services to people with OCD in their own environment. Research has demonstrated ERP therapy can be effectively administered through Telehealth and there can be some benefits to doing this in the space where most OCD rituals can take place.

Meet Sophie

Sophie Clement, Senior Clinical Psychologist & Director

Sophie Clement is a Senior Clinical Psychologist with a specialist interest in working with adults living with mild to severe OCD and related conditions (including Health Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder and Specific Phobias). She has experience working in an OCD Inpatient program and in private practice. She has also completed research into cognitive risk factors for developing OCD.

Sophie is a Board-Approved Supervisor and offers supervision by appointment for health professionals who work with clients with OCD. Sophie also welcomes referrals from other psychologists who may need some specialised support for their clients with OCD; which may include providing a brief course of treatment.

Sophie has seen Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy help people all over Australia to shrink their OCD and anxiety, and get back into their lives. She understands the obstacles many face when trying to access the right sort of treatment for OCD and hopes to help make that easier.

Sophie is based in Melbourne and splits her time between working in an OCD inpatient unit and in private practice.

What to expect: encouragement to move towards important life areas, a compassionate and challenging approach, and a whole lot of ERP.
